A teaching rhythm built around weather and workshops

Whether you join the diploma or a short course, the week mixes briefings, bay practice, and — when the calendar allows — supervised site time.

Shared structure across courses

Each programme opens with safety induction and tool familiarisation. Theory blocks stay short enough to leave afternoon hours for the array, electrics benches, or plant room. Assessment is practical: drawings, measured surveys, and client-facing summaries marked for clarity.

Diploma year shape

The Renewable Energy Engineering Diploma runs 36 weeks from September. Autumn covers electrical fundamentals and solar design; winter deepens heat pumps and fabric-aware retrofit; spring adds storage, grid-connection awareness, and three assessed site packs. Summer closes with portfolio review and tutor recommendations for next roles.

Short-course intensity

PV, heat-pump, and site-assessment courses compress the same teaching habits into weeks rather than terms. You still complete a practical task — a stringing plan, an emitter schedule, or a field report — before the final day.

Field days

Accompanied visits use homes and small sites that have agreed to host learners. Schedules shift with weather; we publish revised times as early as we can. Travel to listed visit sites is organised by the school for assessment training.
